Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine has 6 physicians and 2 nurse practitioner. They see patients in the Canandaigua office and are accepting new patients.  


Deborah Burger

Physician

 


Deborah Burger was born and grew up in Rochester, New York. She obtained her RN from Highland Hospital School of Nursing and then her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University College at Brockport, New York. She returned to school for her Master in Science/Family Nurse Practitioner at St. John Fisher College, graduating in 1997. Mrs. Burger is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State. She joined the Canandaigua Medical Group team in our Internal Medicine Department in June of 2005.

Mrs. Burger and her husband, Jim, live in the Bristol Hills near Canandaigua, NY and enjoy many outdoor activities including snow skiing, scuba diving and hiking. Much of her spare time is involved in training and showing her two horses.


Kipling Goh, MD

Physician

 


Dr. Goh was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Pittsford, New York. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eisenhower College and went on to medical school at the University of Louisville. Dr. Goh completed his internship and residency at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is currently a member of the American Medical Association, the New York State Medical Society, and the American College of Physicians. He began his private practice in 1993 at the Canandaigua Medical Group. Dr. Goh and his wife, Adrienne, an attorney, live in Canandaigua and have three children, Katherine, Derek, and Seth. In his spare time, Dr. Goh enjoys playing the guitar and making and tasting wine.


Frederick C. Holton, MD

Physician

 


Dr. Holton was born in Rochester and raised in Canandaigua. He graduated from the University of Rochester and completed medical school at the University of Buffalo. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Prior to joining the Canandaigua Medical Group he was in private practice in Mendon and is an Associate Attending at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

Dr. Holton and his wife Catherine, a surgical nurse in Rochester, have three children. His interests include boating on Canandaigua Lake, skiing at Bristol Mountain, golfing, and watching his children play high school sports.

Dr. Holton currently lives in Mendon and looks forward to moving to Canandaigua in the near future.


Michael Mitchko, MD

Physician

 


Born and raised in Binghamton, New York, Dr. Mitchko completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester in New York. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York and performed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Primary Care at the University of Rochester. He also completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester. Dr. Mitchko is Board Certified and is currently a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Geriatric Society. He began his private practice in 2000 at the Canandaigua Medical Group. Dr. Mitchko and his wife, Anne, a Physician Assistant, along with their daughter, Madelyn, live in Fairport, New York. The Buffalo Bills are one of Dr. Mitchko’s “Personal Favorites” as are hiking and skiing.


Jill K. Potts, MD

Physician

 


Dr. Potts was born and raised in Holland, New York and received her Bachelor of Science Degree as well as her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. She then completed her internship and residency at the University of Vermont in Burlington. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is currently a member of the American Medical Association as well as the American College of Physicians. She began her private practice in 1998 at the Canandaigua Medical Group.
Along with her husband, Robert Rubadeau, an employee of Finger Lakes Technical Services and son, Alex, Dr. Potts lives in Honeoye, New York where she enjoys camping, hiking, canoeing, and gardening.


James Powers, MD

Physician

 


Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Powers attended Pennsylvania State University as an undergraduate then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Primary Care at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Dr. Powers is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is currently a member of the Ontario County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Powers began his private practice in 1977 at the Family Health Associates of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, New York. He joined the Canandaigua Medical Group in 1980.
Dr. Powers and his wife, Bonney, a Registered Nurse and real estate broker, live in Canandaigua and have three daughters, Jennifer, Meghan, and Alexandria. Dr. Powers' “Personal Favorites” include Penn State football, collecting baseball artifacts and autographs, gardening, swimming, golfing, motorcycling, and digital photography.


Carl Sahler, MD

Physician

 


Dr. Sahler was raised in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey and completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York. Dr. Sahler went on to complete a Ph.D. in Cell Physiology at the State University of New York at Buffalo before performing his residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital, and Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is currently a member of the American College of Physicians, the New York State Medical Society, and the Ontario County Medical Society. He began his private practice in 1977 at the Canandaigua Medical Group. Dr. Sahler and his wife, OJ, a Pediatrician, live in Canandaigua and have two children, Brian and Catherine. The Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Pirates, and “low fat” hot wings are a few of Dr. Sahler’s “Personal Favorites.” In addition, he enjoys bicycling with TNMC (Thursday Night Men’s Club), gardening, fishing, skiing, and making bad jokes.


Susan Zumbo

Physician

 


Susan Zumbo began at Canandaigua Medical Group in June of 2006. Sue has been a Registered Nurse in the area for the past 30 years. She recently completed her Nurse Practitioner Degree at the University of Rochester and will be utilizing those skills in our Internal Medicine Department.

Sue is married and lives in Canandaigua. Sue has two grown children: Erin (25) and Jason (22). In her spare time, Sue enjoys golfing, skiing, boating, traveling and gardening.
