Home Safety

According to the National Safety Counsel in 2000, falls in the home and community caused or led to 15,400 deaths. All age groups are vulnerable, but older adults are most at risk. Every 18 seconds, an older adult is treated in an emergency department for a fall, and every 35 minutes someone in this population dies as a result of their injuries.

See the statistics and ways to prevent falls at the NIH web site.
